This Privacy Policy applies to junto (ABN 000 000 000), operated by junto Pty Ltd. It explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Who we are

junto is an online marketplace that connects people planning events (hosts) with event service providers (vendors) across Australia. Our platform is accessible at getjunto.com.au.

2. What personal information we collect

We collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities. This includes:

Information you provide directly

  • Name, email address, and phone number when you register or sign up to our waitlist
  • Business name, ABN, location, and service details (vendors)
  • Profile photos, portfolio images, and business descriptions (vendors)
  • Event details, date, location, and budget information (hosts)
  • Messages and enquiries sent through the platform
  • Payment information processed via Stripe (we do not store card details)

Information collected automatically

  • IP address, browser type, and device information
  • Pages visited and interactions on our platform
  • Referral URLs and session data
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see section 8)

3. How we use your personal information

We use your personal information to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Facilitate connections between hosts and vendors
  • Process bookings and payments
  • Send transactional emails (enquiry notifications, booking confirmations, account updates)
  • Send marketing communications where you have opted in
  • Verify vendor identity and ABN as part of our approval process
  • Improve our platform and services
  • Comply with our legal obligations
  • Prevent fraud and ensure platform safety

4. Disclosure of personal information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:

  • Other users: When a host sends an enquiry to a vendor, relevant event details are shared with that vendor. Vendor profiles including name, location, and contact details are visible to hosts.
  • Service providers: Third-party providers who help us operate the platform, including Supabase (database and authentication), Resend (email delivery), Cloudinary (image hosting), Stripe (payments), and analytics providers (Google Analytics, Meta). These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Law enforcement or regulators: Where required or permitted by Australian law.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in accordance with applicable law.

Some of our service providers may be located outside Australia, including in the United States. Where we transfer personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected in accordance with the APPs.

5. Data security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), row-level security policies on our database, and access controls limiting who can view personal data.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) of any eligible data breach as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

6. Data retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

7. Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information
  • Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal obligations)
  • Opt out of marketing communications at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with the OAIC if you believe we have breached the APPs

8. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate our platform, remember your preferences, and analyse how our site is used. We use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, and Microsoft Clarity for analytics and advertising purposes. These services may set their own cookies.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some features on our platform.

9. Children's privacy

Our platform is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at hello@getjunto.com.au and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by displaying a notice on our platform. Continued use of junto after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
